New Work

Keith Negley – MFA Thesis

I’m very please to announce my MFA thesis is finished! It’s titled We Tell No One, and a short blurb describing the project and a selection of my favorite pieces from the book are below. Special thanks to my fellow MFA classmates, teacher David Sandlin, advisor Chris Silas Neal, and Marshall Arisman.

We Tell No One is a series of illustrations inspired by anonymous notes. They were found on sidewalks, in parking lots, and school cafeterias, and later compiled by Found Magazine. After porting over their archive I selected the notes that I had an immediate emotional response to, and challenged myself to simply translate the response visually without forethought as to the audience or end product. The result is a series exploring my own anxieties about masculinity, sexuality, marriage, and fatherhood and subsequently my fears of inadequacy as a man, son, husband and father.

To see the notes that inspired these images come to the show or you can follow me on twitter  or tumblr.

The exhibition opens today and runs until May 11th. The reception is Tuesday, May 7th 6-8pm 601 W. 26th St. 15th Floor New York, NY 10001
