This is a full pager in the May issue of Portland Monthly about a collaboration between two theater groups to bring Ursula Le Guin’s book “The Left Hand of Darkness” to the stage. Beyond the normal complications brought about from collaboration between groups with distinct styles, there’s the challenge of creating a set that recreates a planet in the midst of an Ice Age where the characters trek 900 miles across a frozen glacier during the play. It was loads of fun to do. I never get tired of illustrating snow. Big thanks to Kate Madden for the job!
