Happy New Year everyone! I’d like to share a couple of pieces completed at the tail end of 2012, and also announce my new online print shop. First, here’s a new piece about restaurants that focus more on the ambient music than on the food itself.
As a self-described concept geek, I’ve been wanting to contribute something to Illustrated Etymology for a long time. It’s a site curated by Adam R. Garcia which features a collection of visual correlatives to English word history. In other words, it’s the perfect opportunity for an illustrator like myself to draw upon the visual cues of the origin of words to devise clever or metaphorical illustrations simply for the joy of doing it.
For my first contribution I chose the word ciabatta, which is a type of bread named after its resemblance to ‘carpet slippers’. This one was almost too easy to conceptualize, but it was nonetheless really fun to do. Thanks to Adam for welcoming me to this great and growing collection.
Lastly, you can now get your hands on an illustrated print, iphone case, and even a throw pillow with selected artwork by yours truly at my newSociety6 shop! I’ll be adding new products very soon, but go check out current selection here. If there’s something you don’t see that you’d like to request, feel free to contact me. Thanks for visiting!
