For May’s Honolulu Magazine, Afterthoughts section, I was asked to illustrate a written piece that’s a little more opinion driven. Basically the article is about two things. One being the lack of police presence in the up and coming China town neighborhood in Honolulu. The second being how Otto at Otto’s Cakes (famous local cake shop) is being threatened by drug dealers to move out of the neighborhood. Otto himself tried to eventually get police to notice but with no luck. So he wrote “HELP” on the window and a note saying he would only take orders placed over the phone/email and not be open with regular business hours. What a shame!
Here’s two other idea’s I thought were kinda neat. One being a switch blade in a cake, the other being Otto waiting for phone calls hunched behind the counter while the doors locked. Thanks again Cody + Mike for an awesome written piece to illustrate.
