It was the first day of class in my junior year of college. and I’ll never forget my illustration teacher Christine Beetow coming in and handing us all our own copy of the most recent Society of Illustrators annual (#40).
“Only the best of the best get in this book.” I can remember her saying, “Study it, this is your competition”.
That moment was galvanized in my mind and since then I’ve always held the SOI annuals as the pinnacle prize for our industry. It gives me great pleasure to say 14 years later the Society has awarded me two silver medals as well as selected 8 other pieces of mine for inclusion in the book. I’ve always been in awe of recipients of the medals and to be included among that group is nothing short of surreal. I want to thank all the jury for their time, Kate, Katie, and Tara, and of course this year’s Chair John Hendrix. And congratulations to all the other winners! Below are the pieces that were chosen. Apparently they cap artists at 8 for the book, so I need to decide which two won’t be included, but I wanted to post them all here. It’s been a hell of year, Thanks for looking!

Father’s Day, a visual essay

Congrats Keith! These are great, I especially love the father’s day series!
Congrats. Okay. After seeing which images were selected, NOW I can see why you were picked. Just kidding. It’s no surprise with your great stuff.
Man, such excellent work. You deserve the medals and the accepted entries, Keith.
All of these are brilliant. So many favorites here… impossible to pick a favorite. None of us can wait to see what you’ll come up with next! Many congratulations!
An incredible year of work, Keith, congratulations on all the successes!
