Thanks to the Washington Post for this cover assignment. I am including sketches, as well – the chosen sketch was not my first choice, but in the end, I like the final art. I realize that the art director definitely made the right call – the final layout is more balanced and interesting. I always gravitate towards a figurative solution, so if I couldn’t draw the larger figures from the first sketch, I tried to make the most of the little tailgaters.
