PJ McQuade, LA Weekly

I did this illustration for LA Weekly last week for an article about how somebody at Los Angeles City Hall illegally stuck a 250 pages of Department of Planning “findings” into the official record in the final minutes of a city hearing, to justify developers claims that a 270 foot skyscraper proposed at Hollywood and Gower, Hollywood’s tallest building ever, didn’t need to all that many parking spaces. Without debate, the three City Council members on the powerful Planning and Land Use Committee hurriedly agreed that the Department of Planning findings were correct: the huge tower, with its admittedly serious shortage of planned parking, wouldn’t mess up Hollywood Boulevard and surrounding streets. After all, the city’s own elaborate “findings” said so.
