I was hanging out with some of my IlloConfidential friends at the ICON Conference in Rhode Island back in June when the email came in for this fun job for MAXIM Magazine.

I thought I’d have to turn it down because I was away from my studio for another week and was busy attending the conference. While mulling over my schedule, Pete Ryan, illustrator and expert panda tamer, was nice enough to smack some sense into me, “It’s MAXIM Magazine! You can’t turn it down!”

So I didn’t! And everything worked out great with the timing. I worked on sketches while watching the NBA Finals in a motel room outside Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and I was able to work on the final from my studio at home when we returned from vacation.
