Thomas James – The Healing Benefits of Crying

This is a new personal piece that takes a conceptual look at the healing properties of the act of crying. Unlike most of my work which is a combination of pencil drawing and digital painting and collage, I used this illustration as an opportunity to work exclusively in the digital realm. This approach helped me to remove my traditional linework completely, work more graphically, and try to strip things down to the most necessary elements required to communicate a more conceptual, less literal piece. Although I still enjoy drawing in pencil, I expect to be doing more work like this in the future because it was faster, more direct, and more fun.

  1. Thanks so much, Keith. I really need to create more personal work. It’s so liberating.
