PJ McQuade – LA Weekly

Got an illo in this week’s LA Weekly, out today.  I modeled the surfer after Swayze from Point Break, with lots more tats, couldn’t resist putting a shark on his shoulder.  Anyway, looks like it’s getting hot in Malibu.  Go Surfers!

Sleepy Malibu in Political Upheaval, with surfers out to take power,
Who knew that a green plan to dredge and remake Malibu Lagoon so the listless water would flow better into the Pacific would instead split this environmentally aware town in half, cause a surfer uprising in which a bunch of surf bums decided to run for City Council to stop the dredging, and otherwise roil the ritzy village by the sea..

  1. Looks great PJ. The surfboard throne is a nice touch!

Nice one – and you certainly picked the right surfer for inspiration! That movie is a guilty pleasure.
